Vacation Day #1!

Oh my goodness. Has it really been almost a week since I last posted?! I admit, while I have missed sharing pictures and stories here, I have not missed being on the computer! There is no love lost for my email or for facebook.

As a matter of fact, I enjoyed having a break from those!

But here we are....back from our Wild West Adventure! We got up and drove over 16 hours straight, through 4 different states yesterday so we could get back and sleep in our very own beds. It felt strange walking in here, almost like it was someone else's house!

We threw everyone straight in bed last night, unloaded 9 days worth of junk from our van and promptly slept anywhere from 10-12 hours each.

We are SO disoriented today with the time change and wondering where half our day went! (sleeping:)

Anyone want to come unpack and do laundry for me?? Anyone?

Okay, nevermind. Instead, I'll share a few pics from our first day of camping. We left at about a quarter til 5am last Tuesday and drove 14 hours to Ogalalla, Nebraska.

It was supposed to be a 12 hour trip.

We hit some potty desperation on the way there and pulled off at an exit, only to find no bathrooms. Luckily, that's no problem for boys!! haha.

Thankfully, the desertous like heat was cooling off by the time we straggled into our campsite by a lake. There was a heavenly breeze and we could tell right away it would be a better campsite than our first one.

We set up our tent~we're pros now! And then we got the grill started right away and tossed on some delicious hobo packets. Mmm!

Eliana ate her own dinner since we wanted to get her right to bed. I think she looks so cute sitting in the big chair:)

She kept daddy company while he got our dinner started!

The campsites had a nice distance between them, unlike the last site and they weren't all filled up since it was a weekday, which was nice. We all settled down to sleep and got our little Miss to sleep by 9pm (a HUGE difference from last time when she didn't settle down til midnight!) and everyone slept like a log!

Well, the kids anyways. I never sleep well the first night in a different place. And it's LOUD out in nature with all the birds and bugs! Thankfully, we had an electric site and could plug in our fan and noisemaker to help the kiddos sleep better.

And maybe us, too:) This is called "roughing it." ha!

The next morning we dined on cereal and homemade granola and got ready for a relaxing day in excited Nebraska. Okay, not.

A typical Zakkai look:)

Pretty girl enjoying some food! She's a camping pro now!

More pictures and stories to come!
